Susan Collins and Mitt Romney don’t run this country

Susan Collins and Mitt Romney don’t run this country. If they want to leave open the possibility that a Democrat might appoint the next Supreme Court justice, their constituents should punish them at the ballot box. But there’s nothing unconstitutional, unlawful, immoral, improper, or hypocritical about the president nominating a candidate and the Senate confirming him or her. In fact, it would be absurd for a Republican president not to nominate, and a Republican Senate not to act, on filling a Supreme Court vacancy. This is what all presidents have done under similar circumstances. The only controversy is the one the Democrats and their media mouthpieces seek to create, as with most things.
