Ronald Reagan announced his candidacy for president in 1979 in a speech to the nation that I have linked below. It's worth a listen. Keep in mind, the GOP establishment did all it could to stop his candidacy and defeat him. They believed he was too extreme and he could not win. Reagan would win in a landslide, and won another landslide in 1984, and go down in history as one of our greatest and most successful presidents. While listening to this same establishment today, smearing our efforts and our movement, never forget that we stand on the shoulders who came before us and who refused to give up. Reagan lost two prior attempts to gain the GOP nomination, in 1968 and 1976. But he would not relent. The rest is history.
