Why America NEEDS to Get Serious About TaiwanPosted on January 2, 2025 The fight over Taiwan is all talk right now- but the small island off the coast of China is a ticking time bomb. The island is geographically important to both the U.S and China as its waters are major shipping lanes which play a key role in the global supply chain. Taiwan also manufactures 90% of microchips, which are used in everything from phones and laptops to fighter jets. If China tries to annex Taiwan, there could be dire economic and technological consequences for America and the rest of the world. Fortunately, with Joe Biden leaving the White House and Donald Trump set to assume the role of president, we may actually have a leader who can and will make sure that Taiwan remains free from Chinese control.
