John Yoo on Life Liberty and Levin: “The American Revolution, I think, is a conservative revolution, it doesn’t want to wipe out everything in favor of some kind of new socialist or communist world. It wants to restore our natural rights. What the founders thought they were seeing, and maybe they were a little conspiratorial-minded. What they thought they were seeing was the British Empire extending its tentacles of control onto the freedoms that they had enjoyed for decades and decades in a kind of benign neglect, and so they saw the British increasing taxes, stationing troops, creating a system of imports and exports that were crushing liberty here, or so they thought.”
